This series has been building in my head for several years and I finally broke ground toward the end of 2019. The series is a personal exploration of myself through what I’m calling “segmented-self-portraits.” It is also a means of investigating my body’s relationship with the natural world. In addition, it considers the historical context of different art materials through the combination of painting and embroidery. I eventually want to write about the series, delving into topics like the female artist, self portraiture, high- and low-art, and the female nude.
